In today’s political climate Law Enforcement Agencies are facing times of civil unrest and uncertainty. A peaceful protest that is supported by the community can often take a wrong turn when two opinions collide. Law Enforcement needs to be prepared not only for the organized protest that goes wrong, but the organized riots by professionals that are put in place to destroy infrastructure and disturb your community’s way of life.
*This course is being taught by members of a major metropolitan police department with extensive real world experience. Instructors have planned, lead and executed 100’s of real world civil disturbance and riot control operations.
Course Topics Include:
• Command and control
• Tactical planning
• Crowd psychology
• Riot formations
• Mass arrest procedures
• The use of chemical agents
• Mobile techniques
• Passive resistors
• Case law
Materials Required:
o Note Taking Materials
o 1 Canister of Smoke (if issued)
o 37/40 MM if issued (riot control and/or training rounds, if issued)
o Any tactical riot gear issued
o Any handheld deployed less lethal munitions (if issued)
o Ear/Eye Protection
o Range Clothing (for any weather)
o Open Mind and Positive Attitude
